Music’s power to help victims of war, sexual violence and AIDS

36

Music’s power to heal is the main focus of Make Music Matter — a program developed by Winnipeg music producer Darcy Ataman to help victims of war, sexual violence and AIDS. Specially trained psychologists travel to conflict zones along with music producers to help participants heal by writing and recording songs about their emotions and experiences. These songs get played on local radio stations, helping to empower the artists in their recovery and sharing with the community to help others with similar experiences.
